Redistricting authority:
U.S. Congressional Districts – Legislative. The Colorado General Assembly divides the state into congressional districts. Governor has veto power over plan.
State Legislative Districts – Colorado Reapportionment Commission. 11 members, composed
of the speaker of the House of representatives, the minority leader of the House of
representatives, and the majority and minority leaders of the Senate, or the designee of any such
officer (these four must accept or designate someone in their place by April 15); three executive
members (appointed by the Governor between April 15 and April 25), and four judicial members
(appointed by the chief justice of the Colorado Supreme Court between April 25 and May 5). No
more than 6 of the 11 may be of the same political party. The Governor does not have veto power over the state legislative plan.
