Redistricting authority:
U.S. Congressional Districts – Legislative. The Legislature has the responsibility of congressional redistricting (Ohio House State Government Committee and Senate State and Local Government Committee). The Governor has veto power over the congressional plan.
State Legislative Districts – Board. Apportionment Board, composed of 5 members: the
Governor, the Secretary of State, the State Auditor, the Speaker and Majority Leader of the Senate
jointly appoint one person, and one appointee chosen jointly by the Minority Leaders in each chamber . The Governor does not have veto power over the legislative plan. The Board must be
formed between August 1 and October 1, 2011, and the Governor must publish their final plan
by October 5, 2011.
